Small World Receives Growth Equity Investment

Investment Will Fund Acquisitions and Organic Growth


June 10, 2010 - William Blair & Company announces the success of its client, Small World Financial Services Group, in connection with a substantial growth investment led by Fleming Family & Partners Private Equity. William Blair International served as financial advisor to Small World Financial Services Group for the transaction.

Small World, based in London, is Europe’s leading independent international money transfer company. The international money transfer market is large, growing, and highly fragmented. A market leader in the sector, Small World has remittance volumes in excess of $1 billion from senders in seven countries: the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, and Switzerland. The company has built a large, loyal customer base with highly scalable operations comprising a strong network of banking partners, and a market-leading IT platform. In addition, the company has developed a pipeline of potential acquisitions and partnership agreements. The new capital investment by Fleming Family & Partners Private Equity (FF&P), alongside continued follow-on investments from Small World’s existing shareholders, will allow the company to accelerate these opportunities.

FF&P Private Equity, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fleming Family & Partners Group, manages more than £250 million, which it invests directly into growth companies for significant minority or majority shareholdings. Fleming Family & Partners Group is one of Europe’s largest multifamily offices, with assets under management of more than £3 billion and 200 employees in 4 international locations.

Small World engaged William Blair International to raise capital to fund acquisitions and organic expansion into new territories.
